Female circumcision in Indonesia

Tags: circumcision, Indonesia, religion
Today female circumcision is common in more than 30 countries, mostly in many Middle Eastern and African countries. Doctors who practice female circumcision say that there are many reasons for this – from religious beliefs to the development of cervical cancer. However, this is not a good enough reason to endanger a woman, and especially child’s health. Often the process of healing after circumcision can take a long time and can be uncertain. This procedure can cause bleeding and infertility, and sometimes even lead to death.
In honor of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad 284 families in Jakarta, Indonesia , received money for their daughters participating in a mass circumcision. Winner of numerous awards, photographer Stephanie Sinclair visited this ceremony and presents us these moving photos of the scene.

Wonderful Airbus A380 – light in flight

Airbus with its A380 passenger aircraft delivers an unparalleled level of comfort that no other aircraft in the sky can match. The entire second deck of the plane is occupied by business and first classes. Seats can easily become beds and passengers are given futons for convenience. Every passenger has its own fridge with cool drinks next to him, and at the back of the plane one can sit in the high-end bar idly discussing a problem of the Large Hadron Collider launch with a talkative bartender. What else can you say? Only that there are two spacious shower cubicles at the front of the plane. It will be the first time you’ll wish the flight is never over. (All captions are provided by the photographer Sergey Dolya).
